Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves
Dance and float
Swinging to their own music
As the coolish breeze provides the song.

Only a gentle bite
Of winter is in the air
Yet all creatures know
The time of change and sleep has whispered Her presence.

The colors, brilliant now
Will slowly fade as the Mother
Prepares for the soft blankets of snow
To intimate the nearness of the coming winter.

The beauty never fades
Only changes and sleeps
Allowing for a new beauty
To characterize the time of lazy snow and crystal ice.
